What do you think makes a successful text induction? Do they need to be written different than a live induction? What elements do you like best?

For me a good text induction is one where it is not immediately apparent that it is an induction, perhaps it reads like a story or like an article about hypnosis.
An induction method that works well for me of instance is where i read of a recollection of someone being hypnotised, i find myself slowly become that person of whom the trance is being told, i become the subject.
With audio trances or live trances i prefer to be addressed directly.
i remember reading some transcripts of IM trances that a wonderful hypnotist by the name of Goddess Kwan Yin had performed (Goddess Kwan Yin sadly passed away last year). On reading these transcripts i found myself falling in to trance and being effect by the scripts.

Being a logical thinker confusion techniques work well for me, and this is especially true with text trances.
my (limited) experience of text trances is that i do not go so deep, but sometimes and somewhat surprisingly to me text trances can work faster and more covertly that audio.

i'll have to look up Goddess Kwan Yin. It would be interesting to read IM transcripts of real sessions. The few live IM sessions I've had have resulted in light trances, but i'm very easily jarred out of them when i reply.

i agree that text trances can work very covertly. They're very sneaky that way, and i've found myself trancing out to a few erotic hypnosis stories before. i always thought it would be interesting if a domme wrote an erotic story with the hidden purpose of converting the reader to a sub by the end of the story with instructions on what to do next.

For me, a good text trance has to involve me in some way - descriptive prose, especially that steps away from progressively relaxing the body, part by part but captures my imagination in other ways - maybe invoking scent or a recollection of a past trance (a really quick way to get me to drop!) or describing how someone else was hypnotized and,, slowly transforming it into directing the suggestions at the reader instead all have worked well...

When I had two of My previous subs text trances were good as I already had their consent to trance them and so it meant that in every day chit chat on the IM I could take them whenever I wished but without having to formally "arrange a session" this puts FAR less "pressure" on both Me and My sub as it just comes about "naturally". I found that both methods worked equally well.........those where I was recounting an apparent story of how I did xyz with abc person (be it true or just fiction) or whereby I would start with something like can you imagine if.....how that would feel etc?

I particularly liked the creativity the icons on yahoo IM allow Me, I once created a whole text session using each icon in order, just making the story up as I went along and the extra advantage of text sessions are that you can use an icon or the colour of a word etc as an anchor/trigger for PHS.

Proklet - WRT Goddess Kwan Yin I have just checked the two links we had in TCOD for her and at present they are "broken" however Arafin who was a close friend of hers and who owns TCOD may have some responsibility for taking care of her sites as I think he had agreed to keep them up and running after she died. For me, probably a preconditioning. I have been tranced by text but I have to work on it my eyes want to cross and go out of focus. If my sub consious could br programmed to take over sooner so I could let go,relax and accept the induction. Irresistible Enchantress would start with larger text. Once I was deep enough and my subconscious took over she would go back to smaller text.

Generally it is important in text trancing to incorporate words to the effect "you will be easily able to read and respond to My words without coming out of trance etc" that way it can help them to keep their eyes open/focussed etc

I think its best to use only a few words (5 or less) on each line.

also to incorporate language that the subject will wake easily should the connection drop...
